Filter coffee

For filter we choose lighter roasted coffees where fruit and flowers shine: washed coffees are clean and floral, naturals fuller and fruitier.

Which coffee for filter

Filter coffee (V60, Chemex, Kalita or an electric drip brewer) shows the taste of the bean most clearly. That is why it suits a lighter roast and aromatic coffees. A washed coffee is clean and floral, a natural fuller and fruitier.

A V60 recipe

15 grams of coffee ground medium-fine like sea salt, 250 grams of water at 93 to 96 °C. Bloom the coffee briefly first, then pour in stages. The whole brew takes 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.

Freshness

Whole beans ground right before brewing have the most aroma. The roast date is on every bag.

Frequently asked questions

Which coffee is best for filter?

A lighter roasted specialty coffee with a strong aroma: washed for a clean, floral cup, natural for a fruity, fuller one.

How coarse should I grind for filter?

Medium-fine, roughly like sea salt. If the water runs through too fast and the coffee tastes sour, grind finer.

How much coffee for one cup of filter?

About 15 grams of coffee for 250 grams of water, a ratio of roughly 1 : 16.

What water temperature for filter coffee?

93 to 96 °C. Boiling water can scorch the coffee; cooler water under-extracts it.

Can I use filter coffee in a drip brewer?

Yes, an electric drip brewer makes filter coffee just like a V60, only automatically.
